PackaginG

Packaging is extremely important at Robin Rose Bakes, not only the cost of each item but the impact that the production of them is having on our environment - it also needs to look great too!

We've spent many long hours sourcing and trialing different products for quality, as well as challenging suppliers to ensure that the products meet UK guidelines for compostable and recycling ability.  Even though for a couple of the packaging products we're still trying to source a more sustainable option,  we hope you'll be pleased to receive your cakes in the materials we've already sourced.

The loaf cases that your cakes are baked in are compostable and can be thrown away in a compost bin.

The Sellotape used to secure the packaging is zero plastic (made from cellulose film and naturally based glue), so it's compostable and can be put in your garden or food waste bin.

The cellophane that your cakes are wrapped in is compostable (this was trialed by the manufacturer and started to degrade on day 30) so you can dispose of it in your compost bin.

The tissue paper is 100% recyclable and made from 99% recycled pulp fiber (plus, approximately 35% of the energy used to make it is from renewable sources - double points!).

The shredded paper is made from 100% recycled material and is 100% recyclable.

The circular Robin Rose Bakes sticker that fastens your tissue paper is made from 100% recycled material and is recyclable or biodegradable.

The cardboard outer box contains approximately 80% recycled material and is 100% recyclable, reusable & biodegradable (we'd love to see how you're reusing your boxes!).

The mailing bag is compostable and can be thrown into your compost bin (please remove the shipping and fragile stickers first though!).

The photo card inside your box is made from 100% recycled paper and is 100% recyclable.

The paper straws sometimes used to protect your cakes during transit are made from 100% recycled material and are 100% recyclable or compostable.

The labels on the inside lid of your box, bottom of your box and on the mailing bag are printed with a thermal printer, therefore no ink is used to produce these at all. Unfortunately, this is the only item that we are still trying to source an eco-friendly alternative so please peel them from the box and bag, then dispose of it in your normal waste bin.

The takeaway boxes used at Farmers markets/shows etc. are 100% compostable.

The wooden knives used in our afternoon tea boxes at farmers markets/shows etc. are100% compostable.
